摇滚对抗孟山都

食物主权按：加拿大摇滚音乐人 Neil Young 以哨子声为 “A Rock Star Bucks a Coffee Shop” 起奏，对准生物科技巨擘──孟山都唱出争议。他以乐与怒的旋律引起大家关注孟山都的种子垄断，还有星巴克可能隐藏引入转基因材料到生产链的真相，以及他们不顾消费者知情权阻止转基因食品标签法案通过等问题。

对于一直留意孟山都新闻的人，很容易进入上述三句歌词的意境。作为被炮轰的当事人，孟山都当然指称新专辑里有许多误导的错误讯息。 有报导指孟山都由一间化工企业，摇身一变成为农化及基因改造种子的巨擘，虽然创业过程不算平坦，常常面对诉讼，但总是轻易得到美国政坛的拥护，不少孟山都的企业顾问都活跃于白宫及国会，出谋献策，巩固企业地位。甚至今年宣布参选美国总统的希拉利，亦曾公开表态支持转基因食物，而她的选举顾问 Jerry Crawford 更被视为由孟山都长期栽培的说客，曾在法院与小农为敌，支持孟山都种子企业地位。 近年，孟山都更积极在中国内地成立 4 所公司，包括︰中种迪卡种子有限公司、北京新千年丰瑞农作物科技开发有限公司、圣尼斯种子（北京）有限公司和孟山都生物技术研究（北京）有限公司。有报导指孟山都在中国吉林开始「有计划、有组织、有步骤」地深入乡镇，向农村进行金钱捐赠，企图以分发转基因种子和农药配对等，蚕食中国粮仓。 孟山都已经瞄准中国的种子市场，蓄势待发。但种子，事关粮食安全，必须份外警惕，确保主导权在手，以免后悔莫及。
